Courses for Coaches 2005/6
The Management Futures Diplomas in Coaching

We are an accredited centre with the Institute of Leadership and Management and offer three practical coaching diplomas underpinned by well researched theory and extensive practice.

The Level 7 Diploma in Leadership Mentoring and Executive Coaching is offered to senior people who have completed our five-day intensive coaching skills programme. It is at postgraduate-degree level. Module 2 learning continues through practical coaching, a facilitated learning set and the development of a portfolio which should be completed normally within 12 months. The diploma is suitable for those within organisations who wish to accredit their skills or people wanting to set up, validate or expand their business in executive coaching.

Why should you enter for the Diploma?

  • The requirement for accreditation in coaching has become widespread in recent years
  • Companies commissioning coaching ask for it
  • Companies employing coaches ask for it
  • The diploma offers structured and satisfying self-development
  • It is a sign of your serious commitment

What is involved?

The total time commitment, including the initial course, is about 200 hours. The Diploma is granted on the basis of a portfolio of evidence. The work includes:

  • An initial assessment by observing you with a client on the last day of the course
  • An agreed number of hours of hands-on coaching experience (maximum 30 hours)
  • Coaching practice and supervision with one to one feedback from your own supervisor
  • Assessment of two audio or video recordings of you with clients
  • Support through three half-day action learning sets
  • Peer coaching to model the skills and tools
  • Entry to the Institute of Leadership and Management, ILM, a professional institute supporting and developing leadership and management throughout the UK and internationally
  • The Diploma reflects the high skills element and the lower knowledge element involved in coaching.

What support will you get?

  • Ongoing support through an action learning group
  • Regular and robust feedback from your supervisor
  • You can ring your supervisor at any time for help and advice
  • If your portfolio falls short in any way then you can re-submit

The ILM also offers coaching accreditation at Level 3 and Level 5 for those who are focusing more on in-house coaching and coaching at a more junior level. There is flexibility in the length of initial training and in subsequent coaching hours and portfolio work.
