Courses for Coaches 2005/6
Supervision

Coaches need supervision. Increasingly, corporate clients make evidence of regular supervision part of their quality assurance processes.

What does a supervisor do?

A supervisor is a more experienced coach who

  • Works with you to benchmark your practice against ‘best in field’
  • Can work through ethical dilemmas with you
  • Supports you through difficulties - for instance with clients where you feel you are at the edge of your competence
  • Can coach you on your own life and career issues.
Who needs supervision?

Supervision may be especially useful for

  • New coaches still in the process of building their skills
  • Therapists beginning to establish a coaching practice
  • Sole practitioners without colleagues with whom to discuss the trickier issues that coaching can raise

A year-long contract for supervision includes five one hour face-to-face or telephone sessions with access by email or phone between sessions.
